Dental implants

Dental implants in Beirut, placed and restored in one clinic.

A dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth with a titanium post that carries a permanent crown. At Lumident the placement and the final crown are separate appointments, three to six months apart, because the bone has to heal around the implant before it can carry a tooth. Planning, surgery, and the final crown all happen in the same clinic, with the same team.

How long does a dental implant take?

Four stages, and the long one in the middle is healing rather than treatment. Knowing the shape of it upfront is what makes the timeline manageable, particularly if you are travelling for treatment.

1 visit

Consultation and imaging

Examination and 3D imaging to measure available bone, map the nerve, and confirm the implant is the right answer. You leave with an itemized plan before anything is booked.

1 visit

Placement

The implant is placed under local anesthesia in a single appointment. Most patients return to normal routine the next day and describe it as easier than the extraction that preceded it.

3 to 6 months

Healing

Bone grows onto the implant surface and locks it in place. Nothing is rushed here, and no clinic can shorten it. A temporary tooth covers the gap in the meantime where it matters.

2 visits

The final crown

Impressions are taken and the permanent crown is made and fitted, matched to the shade and shape of the teeth beside it.

What an implant cannot be rushed into

An implant cannot be started and finished inside a two-week visit to Lebanon. The healing phase is biology, not scheduling, and a clinic that offers a permanent implant crown on the same trip is cutting a corner that shows up years later. If you are travelling, Lumident places the implant on one visit and fits the crown on the next, with both dates agreed before you fly. Implants also need healthy gums and enough bone to hold them, so treating gum disease or grafting bone sometimes comes first, and the consultation is where that is established.

Who does this at Lumident

The Adults & Cosmetics department

Restorative & Cosmetic Dentistry

Implants sit with the restorative and cosmetic department, where the planning, the placement, and the final crown all stay under one roof. That matters more than it sounds: implant work is often split between a surgeon who places it and a separate clinic that makes the crown, and every handover is a chance for the plan to drift. The department is led at professorial level and has been part of Lumident since the clinic opened in 2010.

FAQ

Questions patients ask about implants

Short answers first; anything specific to your teeth comes from a consultation.

How long does a dental implant take from start to finish?

Usually three to six months. The implant is placed in one appointment, the bone then heals around it over several months, and the permanent crown is fitted after that.

Does getting a dental implant hurt?

Placement is done under local anesthesia, so the appointment itself is not painful, and most patients describe the days afterwards as easier than a tooth extraction. Soreness for two or three days is normal and manageable with ordinary painkillers.

Can I get a dental implant during a two-week visit to Lebanon?

Not from start to finish. Lumident places the implant on one trip and fits the permanent crown on the next, three to six months later, with both appointments planned before you fly.

What if I lost the tooth years ago?

Bone shrinks where a tooth is missing, so a long-standing gap sometimes needs grafting before an implant can be placed. The 3D scan at the consultation is what settles this, and it is answered before any treatment is booked.

Is an implant better than a bridge?

An implant replaces one tooth without touching the teeth beside it, while a bridge is supported by grinding down the two neighbours. An implant usually costs more time upfront and preserves more of your own teeth, and which is right depends on the health of those neighbouring teeth.

Who places dental implants at Lumident?

The adults and cosmetics department, whose work covers prosthodontics and prosthetic implantology. Planning, surgery, and the final crown all stay within the same clinic rather than being split between a surgeon and a separate practice for the crown.

Missing a tooth, or wondering if an implant is right for you?

Send a message with what happened to the tooth and roughly when. The department will tell you what the assessment involves and what your realistic timeline looks like.
