What to know before committing
Where enamel is prepared to seat a veneer, that step does not reverse, which is why the design is settled first and why a conservative preparation matters more than a fast one. Veneers also sit on top of dental health rather than replacing it: untreated decay, gum disease, or a heavy grinding habit are dealt with first, or the veneers fail early. They do not change shade later, so if whitening is part of the plan it happens before the veneer shade is chosen, never after. Done properly they last many years, and they still need the same brushing, flossing, and checkups as the teeth underneath.
